Diploma in Teaching English as a Second Language (2013/2014)
Applications are invited for admission to the above course offered by the National Institute of Education
Nature of the Course:
A full-time course where academic sessions are held only at the National Institute of Education.
Designed for senior English Teachers, English Teacher Educators and Education Officers of English to familiarize them with the latest developments in English Language Teaching and Teacher Education.
Those selected for the course are entitled to study leave for the duration of the course, subject to government regulations.
Qualifications required to apply:
1.Should be an English Trained Teacher/English Medium Graduate/Graduate with English as a Subject/Graduate who has passed in English at the GCE Advanced Level Examination.
2.Should have a minimum of five years of English Language Teaching experience after training or graduation.
3.Should be serving in a government or government – approved school/pirivena or an institute under the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in the relevant field at the time of applying.
4.Should be below 50 years of age on 24. 05. 2012
5.Should not be a student registered for a course offered by the National Institute of Education from 24.05.2009 to date.
6.The selected participants will have to pay a course fee of Rs. 24000/- (can be paid in three installments)
Selection for the Course:
1.Selections will be made on the results of an interview conducted for candidates who score high marks at an entrance examination.
Method of Application:
1.As mentioned above, applicants themselves should prepare an application indicating the name, private and official addresses, contact telephone number and eligibility for admission in terms of qualifications and any other relevant information.(for application guidelines please refer to www. nie. lk)
2.The head of the Institution should endorse the application.
3.A non –refundable sum of Rs. 450/- to cover the examination fees should be credited to the account number 607628 of the Director General, National Institute of Education at any branch of the Bank of Ceylon, and annex the receipt to the application form.
4.The duly perfected application along with two self-addressed stamped envelopes
(9x4 inches) should be sent under registered cover to reach ‘The Coordinator- Dip. TESL, Department of English, National Institute of Education, Maharagama’ on or before 14.06.2012
